Job Title: Medical ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medical ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1.5 years ICU experience required, 2 years ICU experience preferred License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS (AHA only), ACLS (AHA only) Must-Have: Strong background in medical patients and critical care Description: The position requires caring for critically ill patients. Main patients will be in a progressive care unit with a ratio of 1:3. Less frequently, there will be ICU patients with a ratio of 1:2. The clinical team may float to all ICU, progressive care, and medical-surgical units. The maximum patient-to-nurse ratio is maintained at 1:3. Travelers are expected to care for both progressive and ICU patients. The primary responsibilities include caring for ventilated patients. Clinicians will initiate and titrate IV drips including vasopressors, sedation, and paralytics. Assistance with intubations and line placements is required. Monitoring critically ill patients with primary diagnoses such as sepsis and respiratory failure is a key duty. Utilization of Phillips heart monitors, Epic EMR, and EKG machines is essential. A flexible, team-oriented approach with critical thinking skills is necessary. The schedule includes three 12-hour shifts per week with traditional weekday and weekend rotations. Clinical staff will never work alone and will float to other units as needed. The unit consists of a medical ICU with 24 beds and a progressive care unit with 12 beds. The dress code requires Caribbean blue scrubs, with black, white, or Caribbean blue jackets. Onboarding will include a review of policies and access to training systems.
