Urgent Care Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking progressive and entrepreneurial Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistantswith adult and pediatric experience to join our welcoming and diverse community of Northwell providers. The Provider will mostly be placed in our 16-hour centers which include: Yaphank, Elwood, Bay Shore, and Port Jefferson. In addition, the Provider may be placed in our 12-hour centers which include: Deer Park, Commack, Sayville, & West Islip. Job Requirements Education Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners Work Experience 2-5 years of post-residency clinical experience required Minimum 18 months experience in applicable practice setting required Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred Required Licenses/Certifications National Certification Active state medical licensure Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, etc. Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills Strong communication and customer service skills Essential Functions Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Examining and treating patients Taking patients’ medical histories Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays Making diagnoses and prescribing medications Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting Recording progress notes for follow-up patients Educating and counseling patients Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care Each provider will work an anticipated four (4), eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care All other duties as assigned Note: this job description is not inclusive of all the duties of the position.
