Machinist DutiesYou will perform all types of general machinist work involving machine tool operation, assembly, installation, and bench work required in the fabrication and repair of mechanical parts and assemblies during prototype and engineering development phase.You will program and operate numerical control (NC) and computer-numerical control machine tools (CNC).You will effectively plan the methods and proper sequence of operations to follow in fabricating the required parts.You will commonly work to tolerances of.001 inch and occasionally work to tolerances of.0005 inch.You will use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, precision gauge blocks, vernier calipers and height gages, and special tolerance gauges in setting up the checking parts or assemblies being manufactured.You will perform general bench work such as chipping, filing, grinding, tapping, reaming, scraping, lapping, and polishing as required in the fitting and assembling of parts into completed assemblies.
