Job Description Summary

The Department of Neurological Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a BC/BE neurosurgeon with fellowship training. The appointment level will be Associate Professor. Candidates with basic or translational research interests are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in the academic activities of the Department and College, including regular attendance at educational activities and mentorship of clinical and/or research post‑doctoral fellows and graduate students. The candidate must be fellowship trained, BC/BE in Neurological Surgery, and eligible for a South Carolina medical license.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements

Applicants should possess excellent clinical skills with experience in Movement Disorders and Functional Neurosurgery, and the ability to teach fellows, residents, and students. Applicants must be Board Certified or Board Eligible.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform job functions in an upright, seated, and walking/mobile position. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather. Ability to work in confined spaces, kneeling, or squatting as needed. Ability to perform pinching operations and use both hands. Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders. Ability to reach in all directions and possess good finger dexterity. Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions, sight (20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or both), hearing acuity, gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
