Design Engineer - Geotechnical / Civil

Design Engineer (PE) – Geotechnical / Civil On-site | Orlando, FL HireNow Staffing is actively recruiting a seasoned, highly skilled Design Engineer (PE) to join one of our valued client partners. HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for this engineering and design leadership role. This role requires a licensed Professional Engineer with strong geotechnical design expertise , capable of owning projects from concept through execution while contributing to business-facing initiatives such as estimating and proposals. HireNow Disqualifier: Candidates with jumpy or inconsistent work history will not be accepted or interviewed. Key Responsibilities Lead design of retaining walls, MSE walls, shoring systems, and deep foundation solutions Perform geotechnical and structural calculations, including stability analysis and value engineering Prepare, review, and seal engineering drawings, calculations, and technical reports Collaborate with contractors, developers, and engineering stakeholders Provide technical support during construction phases (RFIs, troubleshooting, field coordination) Contribute to estimating, bidding, and proposal development efforts Review project bids and support revenue-driven decision making Mentor junior engineers and CAD staff to maintain technical quality standards Required Qualifications (Highly Important) Bachelor's or master's degree in civil or Geotechnical Engineering Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license (non-negotiable) Minimum 5+ years of geotechnical or foundation design experience Demonstrated experience with retaining walls, shoring systems, and deep foundations Working knowledge of FDOT standards and project environments Proficiency with design tools (AutoCAD, LPILE, Slide, Deep Excavation, or similar) Experience supporting estimating, bids, or client-facing interactions Stable and consistent employment history Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Valued) Experience in design-build or contractor-side environments Existing relationships with FDOT, general contractors, or developers in Central Florida Strong commercial awareness with ability to support business growth initiatives Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams Exposure to complex soil systems and large-scale infrastructure projects HireNow Disqualifiers No active Florida PE license EIT certification only (without PE licensure) No geotechnical or foundation design experience Structural-only background without MSE wall or foundation exposure Jumpy or unstable work history Limited hands-on design ownership experience HireNow Checklist Active Florida PE license with strong technical credibility 5+ years of geotechnical and foundation design experience Proven experience designing retaining walls, shoring, and deep foundation systems Comfortable owning projects from design through construction support Experience working with FDOT or similar infrastructure standards Ability to contribute to estimating, bids, and client-facing discussions Stable employment history demonstrating growth and accountability Ideal Candidate Profile Hands-on engineer with both technical depth and business awareness Comfortable operating in design-build or contractor-driven environments Strong communicator who can collaborate with internal teams and external partners Motivated to contribute to both engineering execution and operational growth HireNow Package Salary: $100,000 – $115,000 base + bonus potential (flexibility at top end for strong candidates) Location: Onsite in Orlando, FL Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite Benefits: Performance-based bonus potential Exposure to FDOT and large-scale infrastructure projects Opportunity for technical leadership and mentorship Involvement in both engineering and business operations Potential travel for project support HireNow Staffing Disclaimer HireNow Staffing is acting as a direct placement partner for this role.
