Facility Overview

This 815-bed acute care facility located in Asheville, NC is recognized as a regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care. It is the only Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and children's hospital in western North Carolina. The facility provides a range of specialties, including:

  • Cardiovascular
  • Orthopedics
  • Neurosciences
  • Oncology
  • Pediatrics
  • Women's Services
  • Behavioral Health
The cardiovascular services offered are the only open heart and interventional cardiology services in the region. The hospital is also the second busiest surgical hospital in North Carolina and has received national recognition for its quality of care.

Unit Information

Clinical Neurophysiology Lab - Mission Campus, 4th floor, Room A433

Unit Responsibilities

The unit provides inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) EEG coverage for all age groups, including Neonatal, Pediatric, and Adult patients. The lab specializes in:
  • Long-Term Monitoring (LTM)
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Monitoring
  • Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) Continuous EEGs
Staffing Information

Currently, there are 7 staff members dedicated to the unit. The standard working hours are:
  • Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM
  • Saturday - Sunday: 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM
Equipment

The primary equipment utilized in the unit includes:
  • Natus Xltek
  • EMR Cerner
  • Powerchart
Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Registered EEG Technician certification
  • Experience with Neonatal and Pediatric patients
  • Inpatient hospital experience
Additional preferred skills:
  • Collodion application experience
  • 4+ years of inpatient hospital experience

The best fit for this position will be a team player and a self-starter, capable of working effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Additional Information

Weekend and on-call coverage is required, as the staff rotates these responsibilities.
