At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.Job Purpose/OverviewSpecimen Processors are responsible for receiving, preparing, and processing most samples that come into the department.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analyses.Accurately process standard requisitions per approved procedures at expected rates.Removes specimens from transport bags, enter patient data, label samples and aliquot as needed for multiple testingKeep inventory of samples after testing has been completed by scanning into storage racks. Search lab for any samples not scanned into storage racks.Sort samples for distribution throughout the lab (Coggins, cytology, etc.).Scan tubes into storage racks and enter specimen data into database to verify the accuracy of informationAccession various sample types for processingCheck all trash containers within the Specimen Processing department when assignedAssists other lab personnel with specimen storageEnsure Turn Around Times (TAT's) are metFollows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Antech Diagnostics has several processes in place to communicate with leadership and expects that Associates will have a commitment to integrity and uncompromising values.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required, with science related classes0-1 years related work experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAttention to detail and organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentReasoning and analytical skills to resolve issuesCommunication skills, both verbal and writtenProficiency in the English language which allows for participation in team meetings, accurate entry of data into company systems and understanding of written directionsPositive, can-do attitudeData Entry skillsPersonal computer skills, including strong typing ability and proficient use of Microsoft OfficeWorking ConditionsStationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouchRequired to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.Extended hours may be neededLaboratory environments with potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPEWork under close to moderate supervision.Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards.
