Job Overview The Senior Project Communications Advisor is responsible for developing and executing integrated communications strategies that support major capital projects, including U.S. Gulf Coast projects when assigned. Working closely with Community & Indigenous Engagement (Canada), Stakeholder & Tribal Engagement (U.S.), External Affairs, Business Units, Project Teams, and other key stakeholders, this role advances project approvals, strengthens public understanding, and enhances organizational reputation. Serving as the communications lead for assigned projects, the advisor acts as a central hub for strategic messaging, media relations, content development, and digital communications. The role translates complex technical, regulatory, commercial, and project-related information into clear, credible, and accessible narratives for both internal and external audiences. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain compelling project narratives and message platforms aligned with corporate strategy, business priorities, stakeholder insights, public opinion research, media monitoring, and social listening. Design and execute integrated communications strategies that ensure consistent messaging across media relations, stakeholder engagement materials, digital channels, executive communications, employee communications, and project-related touchpoints. Coordinate the development of communications products from initial information gathering through drafting, SME review, legal review, and final delivery. Translate complex technical, regulatory, commercial, and project information into audience-focused communications that build trust, support project approvals, and enhance public understanding. Partner with Enterprise Media Relations to support media strategies, including proactive storytelling, reactive media responses, spokesperson preparation, issue management, news releases, briefing materials, and rapid-response communications. Lead and support the creation of multi-channel communications content, including project websites, social media content, fact sheets, FAQs, presentations, videos, infographics, visual storytelling assets, and internal communications. Develop and manage content calendars aligned with key project milestones, regulatory submissions, engagement activities, construction phases, and other critical project events. Prepare employees, project leaders, executives, and spokespersons with clear messaging and communications materials for both internal and external interactions. Collaborate closely with Community & Indigenous Engagement, Stakeholder & Tribal Engagement, and External Affairs teams to ensure communications materials accurately reflect stakeholder feedback, interests, and concerns. Coordinate communications strategies, messaging approaches, and advocacy activities with stakeholder coalitions, community partners, and third-party supporters. Monitor media coverage, social media activity, public sentiment, and communications performance to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. Establish and track communications metrics, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to optimize messaging, channel performance, and engagement outcomes. Support communications activities across Canada and the United States based on project and business requirements. Manage relationships with communications agencies, consultants, and external vendors as required by project scope and complexity. Respond effectively to emerging issues, changing priorities, and reputational risks in a dynamic, fast-paced project environment. Scope And Impact Supports major capital projects across North America, including Gulf Coast projects when assigned. Works independently to design and implement communications strategies with minimal supervision while maintaining strong alignment with regional leadership, project teams, and corporate functions. Contributes directly to project approvals, stakeholder understanding, reputation management, and broader business objectives. Regularly collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Regulatory, Commercial, Government Relations, Digital Communications, Employee Communications, and Technical Subject Matter Experts. Operates in a fast-paced environment requiring sound judgment, strategic thinking, adaptability, and strong project management skills. May oversee external communications resources, agency partners, and consultants depending on project requirements. Working Relationships Project Management teams and Project Leadership. Qualifications Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related discipline. Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive communications experience, preferably supporting major projects, infrastructure developments, energy organizations, or regulated industries. Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, media relations, issues management, stakeholder communications, and integrated channel planning. Strong understanding of communications best practices and emerging industry trends. Proven ability to communicate complex technical and commercial information in a clear and compelling manner. Experience utilizing communications measurement frameworks, media monitoring, social media monitoring, sentiment analysis, and performance reporting tools. Experience supporting high-profile projects, public affairs initiatives, or reputation management programs is considered an asset.
