Senior Technical Project Manager

Job Summary The Senior Technical Project Manager works within the Projects and Processes Control Center organization. This role manages complex operational technology (OT) projects across Avangrid, collaborating with teams in Connecticut, Maine, and New York to drive grid modernization initiatives such as real‑time operating control, next‑generation AMI, data center construction, substation automation, and line sensors. Location and Compensation Location: Augusta, ME Salary: $116,600 – $145,800 annually Schedule: On Site – Office Key Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end execution of complex projects, from development to deployment and close‑out, including transition to operations. Lead cross‑functional teams to develop project scope, technical requirements, and comprehensive plans (project, testing, training, transition, resource). Produce complete close‑out documentation and lessons learned. Measure and track project progress, risks, and milestones; report status to stakeholders. Manage project financials – develop budgets, control variances, forecast expenditures, and produce benefit‑cost analyses. Ensure regulatory and compliance reporting requirements are met. Manage vendor engagements and negotiate contracts. Recommend and implement solutions that promote efficiencies and innovation. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience preferred. Proven experience leading technical cross‑functional teams. Experience with procurement processes, including RFP development and contract requirements. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and payment/accrual processes. Experience in IT/OT environments (telecommunications, network or systems engineering, application support) project management or operations. Track record of decision‑making, rapid technology learning, and building stakeholder relationships. Competence in project management software (Microsoft Project, Primavera, Smartsheet). Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP. Experience in electric and/or gas utilities strongly preferred. Knowledge of Change Management and PMBOK standards preferred.
