Senior Cost Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager for a full-time, direct hire opportunity supporting healthcare construction and infrastructure projects in Seattle, WA. This role is ideal for a senior construction cost professional who can take ownership of budgets, forecasting, change control, financial reporting, and cost governance across hospitals, clinics, campus upgrades, and related capital improvement programs.

This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to partner closely with project leaders, accounting teams, contractors, consultants, clients, and executive stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

- Lead construction cost management for healthcare, institutional, and infrastructure capital projects from preconstruction through closeout.
- Own project budgets, committed costs, forecasts, cash flow projections, cost-to-complete reporting, and financial narratives.
- Manage change control, cost trend logs, contingency tracking, escalation impacts, risk exposure, and recovery planning.
- Prepare executive-level weekly and monthly cost reports and communicate budget variances, forecast drivers, and financial risks.
- Reconcile contractor and consultant cost reports, validate pay applications and invoices, and support audits, closeout, and final account reconciliation.
- Partner with project managers, accounting, contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders to resolve cost issues and improve cost management processes.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary: $180,000 to $250,000+ annually, depending on experience, education, and skills.
- Job type: Full-time, direct hire.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday.
- Work arrangement: On-site in Seattle, WA 98101.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Lead project cost controls and financial management for healthcare construction and infrastructure projects.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, committed costs, cash flow, cost reporting, and cost-to-complete analysis.
- Lead change control, trend tracking, contingency planning, cost risk analysis, and executive financial reporting.
- Coordinate with project teams, accounting, contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders to maintain budget alignment.

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction cost management, cost engineering, project controls, or project financial management.
- Experience supporting healthcare, institutional, or large-scale infrastructure capital programs.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting, cost forecasting, cost governance, cost controls, cost coding, WBS structures, and audit requirements.
- Experience with change management, cost variance analysis, cash flow forecasting, risk management, and contingency tracking.
- Proficiency with cost management systems, reporting tools, dashboards, and financial documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information to project teams and executive stakeholders.
- Ability to influence, collaborate, and drive accountability across cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in active healthcare campus environments.
- Understanding of infection control, phased construction requirements, and operational constraints in healthcare facilities.
- CCP, CCM, or PMP certification.
- Experience improving cost management templates, reporting processes, financial dashboards, and project controls standards.
