Compliance Director / Assistant Director – Business Insurance Compliance Business Insurance Compliance seeks a highly experienced professional to serve as a Compliance Director or Assistant Director primarily supporting the Middle & Large and Global Specialty organizations. This role has significant visibility to senior business leaders and requires engaging broadly across the enterprise, influencing outcomes, and translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, strategic guidance. Key Responsibilities Serve as compliance lead and primary advisor for assigned business units and product lines. Act as a trusted advisor to Business Insurance leaders, translating complex regulatory topics into clear, actionable guidance and executive‑level recommendations. Lead and influence initiatives involving multiple Business Insurance units and product lines, providing practical business‑oriented guidance to stakeholders. Proactively identify emerging regulatory risks and present strategic solutions aligned with business objectives and risk appetite. Direct and manage regulatory matters that build credibility with regulators and reinforce The Hartford’s reputation. Develop and execute compliance strategies and audit programs to identify and mitigate organizational risk.Represent Compliance in leadership forums, demonstrating strong executive presence, sound judgment, and influence. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required. J.D. from an accredited law school preferred (but not required) . Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a commercial insurance regulatory environment and/or with commercial insurance products (experience with Workers’ Compensation and/or other casualty lines preferred). Demonstrated experience supporting and influencing senior leaders and executive stakeholders. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex issues for executive audiences. Proven ability to build relationships and operate effectively across all levels of the organization. Collaborative, self‑motivated, resourceful, and able to balance strategic thinking with execution. Compensation Annualized base pay range: $104,000 – $208,800. Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstration of required competencies.
