Research/Clinical PsychologistThe Johns Hopkins University AIDS Psychiatry Service is seeking a Research/Clinical Psychologist who will conduct structured psychological diagnostic evaluations for research, provide psychotherapy for HIV/AIDS infected mental health patients engaged in medical care by Johns Hopkins medical providers.The successful candidate will be a skilled practitioner, have excellent organizational and leadership skills, and a keen understanding of clinical service delivery models. The service model will incorporate a range of visit types including initial consultations, brief individual therapy, group programs, single-session counseling, and intensive services for individuals who may be stepping down from or at risk of entering higher levels of care. The incumbent will collaborate closely across the practice, as well as the Mental Health Services senior leadership team.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesCreates a warm and welcoming clinical environment where clients feel supported and respected during times of crisis and as they pursue their personal, academic, and professional goals.Provides culturally informed direct clinical services, including initial consultations, intake assessments, single-session therapy, individual, group and relationship counseling, and crisis intervention for a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students.Utilizes goal-oriented approaches to treatment including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and interpersonal therapy, often in collaboration with treating psychiatrists.Collaborates with providers within the Bartlett Clinic as an interdisciplinary treatment team; consults, as appropriate, with providers in the community to facilitate continuity of care.Collaborates with campus partners to provide outreach and opportunities for support of students outside the clinic, such as participation in the Chat with a Counselor program or population-specific skills training.Demonstrates commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in clinical work and all professional activities.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsDoctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology or M.D in Psychiatry.Two years related experience.Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred QualificationsExperience providing psychotherapy for HIV/AIDS patients in a multidisciplinary setting.Technical qualifications or specialized certificationsClinical Psychologist must be licensed to practice psychology in Maryland and must maintain current licensure and certification during duration of employment. If not licensed at the time of hire must be licensed within a year of hiring.Special knowledge, skills, and abilitiesMust possess skills in supportive therapy.Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques.Knowledge of established diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders, theoretical approaches, and intervention techniques.Knowledge with Addiction and running group therapy sessions preferred.Good communication skills, both oral and written.Knowledge and understanding of Federal statutes regulating confidentiality of drug and alcohol records.Differential diagnosis of complex mental health problems, judgment regarding when to seek supervision, experience with the phenomenology and treatment of major mental illness and suicide and/or violent or homicidal behaviors.Knowledge treating both neurotic and personality disordered patients is essential.Classified Title: Research Psychologist Job Posting Title (Working Title): Clinical Psychologist (Psychiatry and Behavorial Sciences) Role/Level/Range: ACRP/04/MD Starting Salary Range: $57,195 - $100,040 Annually ($90,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
