Senior Network Security Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Network Security Engineer based in the United States. This role sits at the core of a modern, high-scale engineering environment where security is treated as a first-class design principle rather than a downstream control. The engineer will help design, build, and operate defensive network security systems that protect cloud, corporate, and production infrastructure across complex distributed environments. It is a hands‑on technical role for someone who thrives in deep system work—across routing, cloud architecture, and application-layer security. You will partner closely with infrastructure, platform, and software engineering teams to ensure systems are secure by design. Accountabilities Design, implement, and evolve network security architecture across cloud, production, and enterprise environments, ensuring resilient and scalable defensive controls Develop and maintain security tooling and automation to improve threat detection, visibility, and response across distributed systems Conduct security-focused network architecture and design reviews, ensuring secure‑by‑design principles are embedded in infrastructure decisions Build and deploy network‑based defensive mechanisms, including access controls, segmentation, monitoring, and anomaly detection systems Partner with infrastructure, networking, and platform teams to integrate security into system design, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment workflows Support incident response activities, including investigation, mitigation, post‑incident analysis, and long‑term remediation efforts Drive security engineering initiatives independently while influencing a security‑first culture across technical teams Requirements 6+ years of experience in software engineering, network security engineering, or infrastructure security roles Strong understanding of routing, switching, network architecture, and distributed systems design principles Experience conducting security-focused architecture reviews and identifying systemic risks in networked environments Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Rust, or similar) for automation and tooling development Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and their security ecosystems Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, AWS CDK) in production environments Experience building or operating network-based security controls, monitoring systems, or detection pipelines Background in incident response, including investigation and remediation of security incidents Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and security teams Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance is required Benefits Competitive base salary with a range typically between $128,000 and $220,000 USD depending on experience Equity opportunities as part of the total compensation package Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage Flexible work arrangements with remote‑friendly culture Opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact systems in a mission‑driven environment Professional growth in advanced security engineering, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems Inclusive engineering culture focused on ownership, autonomy, and technical excellence #J-18808-Ljbffr
