Retail Sales Specialist

As Kalmbach Feeds continues to grow, we are looking for passionate, hard-working team members that live our values and help us create new ideas, serve customers, improve our processes, build teams, and manage our growth. The purpose of the Retail Sales Specialist role is to work with our valued customers to build our brand as we grow geographically. Our sales team members work with area retail stores and individual retailers promoting top-quality nutritional products and services for all livestock, poultry, and companion animals. In this role, the successful candidate will be a results-oriented individual who can evaluate the needs of our customers and suggest appropriate products, solutions, and services to fulfill those needs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Create product line demand using basic knowledge of Kalmbach products across all species
• Support and improve the in-store experience of our customers
• Conduct market research to determine customer needs, sharing information gathered with appropriate sales team members
• Ensure that products are properly stocked, freshness level is up to code, and items are properly displayed
• Happy to resolve problems with products and services and knowledge or insight regarding the appropriate time to escalate an issue.
• Will travel approximately 75% of the week to ensure the above responsibilities are completed.

The Right Candidate

• Lives around Des Moines, Iowa
• Preferably holds a bachelor's degree in animal science, Livestock or related field or comparable experience.
• Should be well rounded with baseline knowledge of all species
• Excellent oral/written communication skills
• Ability to travel, including overnight as needed
• Self-Motivated and resilient
• Excellent customer relations skills
