Job Description:Our cashiers play a critical role in providing premier customer service. As the most visible of our associates, they greet our customers and answer their questions in a friendly manner. We rely on them to ensure the correct price is charged for each item sold, provide the correct change, and handle other forms of currency. The desire to help others, take on other duties, and work on a team is key to this role’s success.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides premier customer service, including greeting customers and answering their questions.Accurately total customers merchandise at checkout and, using a cash register, complete transaction by accepting customer’s form of paymentFollow procedures regarding the sale or alcohol and cigarettesHandle grocery items properly and use correct methods of baggingAccepts payment and provide change and receipts when appropriate.Handles cash and other forms of tender accurately.Help customers find merchandise and answer customer’s questionsBags products when necessary.Answering questions about products and services.Use proper phone etiquette when answering the phone and using the intercomStock and face shelves when neededClean counter and register area as needed. Including but not limited to: sweep, dust, clean belts/lane, etc.Maintains a neat and clean register area.Assists in other duties as assigned.Qualifications:At least 18 years of age.Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.Ability to read, write, and do simple math problems.Ability to interpret and follow instructions.Able to lift 20 pounds regularly and 30 pounds occasionallyAble to multitask and work in fast paced environmentStand for the extent of a shiftPreferred QualificationsAbility to work well with others and be an effective team member.A passion for serving people.Work ConditionsCashiers perform their duties primarily at the front end of the store, with exposure to outside weather conditions at times.
