Underwriter Position

An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal account risks. The incumbent manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention. The underwriter initiates and handles agent relationships through service calls and occasional in-person visits. The person in this position provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium.

Qualifications

• At least three years commercial underwriting experience in all business lines
• Working knowledge of NCCI and state bureau manuals, rules and classifications.
• Experience with loss sensitive rating programs.
• CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred.
• Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written.
• Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, marketing, business, or equivalent experience preferred.

We open to considering candidates for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter depending on experience. Must have 5 years of related experience for the senior level. Expected salary for the mid-level underwriting level position is $76,000 to $95,000. Salary is based on experience and education. The expected salary range for this position is 88,000.00-109,900.00. This salary range depends on experience, education, and location for this specific position.
