Instructor, GM Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP) - FT

Under the general direction and supervision of the Dean and Associate Dean, the Instructor, General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP), is responsible for providing instruction and developing and updating the program courses in a classroom/laboratory environment. This full-time regular position is also responsible for the maintenance of the lab equipment and ASEP vehicles, advising students, and working with the program, IAGMASEP, dealer sponsors, and College committees.

Essential Functions

1. Provide effective Student Instruction in Program Courses as assigned in both classroom and lab environments
2. Work with dealerships and students during the co-op work experiences
3. Determine the appropriate material to be covered in the course(s) assigned to teach (subject to Associate Dean and Division Dean approval).
4. Develop new courses and update existing courses as required to keep the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM ASEP) current with industry standards and processes and General Motors requirements.
5. Maintain and Upgrade GM ASEP Classroom / Laboratory / Instructional Facilities / Equipment
6. Complete and Maintain Program and Student Records
7. Participate in student advising for program students
8. Maintain Technical Competency
9. Participate in GM factory trainings and meetings

Minimum Qualifications

1. AAS degree in an Automotive Technology field and 2 years of current work experience in the field OR
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive Technology or a closely related field OR
3. Ten (10) years of relevant work experience and the ability to complete an AAS in Automotive Technology within 2 years of hire

AND

1. Current ASE Certification in areas of instruction or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
2. Current GM Certification in areas of instruction or ability to obtain within 1 year.
