Food Services Supervisor

Summary Supervises the activities of inmate kitchen workers. Coordinates the preparation and cooking through the supervision of inmate kitchen worker cooks and helpers. Responsible for the supervision of all other inmate kitchen workers in the carrying out of all their related duties under the guidance of the Director Food Services or Assistant Director Food Services. Completes tasks and projects as assigned such as conducting in‑service training for Food Service personnel and inmate kitchen workers relating to the principles of proper food, sanitation, safety and hygiene. May fill in for the Assistant Director Food Services as required. Available Shift Hours 12:30 PM - 8:30 PM and 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the preparation of meals during each meal period of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ensure each meal meets established standards of preparation, presentation and sanitation. Maintain all applicable sanitation standards, coordinating and supervising kitchen staff practices and procedures and communicating with other departments as needed. Supervise inmate kitchen workers who prepare over 6,500 meals daily for staff and inmates, motivating and directing them to complete meal periods safely while maintaining institutional security. Adapt to unusual events or occurrences, maintaining timely and satisfactory meal preparation in accordance with Facility Standing Operating Procedures (S.O.P.). Properly use, maintain and repair kitchen equipment, keeping it in good working order and preventing injury. Qualification Requirements High school diploma or its equivalent. Prior experience is beneficial. Criminal history check will be completed. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Physical Demands The role requires standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle or feel objects, reaching with hands or arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception. Work Environment Moderate noise level.
