BVA Bears IT Solutions is seeking a Grant Compliance Specialist, which you will be responsible for ensuring that all project activities, documentation, and deliverables associated with the Appalachian Business Builders initiative comply with Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) funding requirements, federal regulations, and institutional standards. This role provides oversight of compliance processes, documentation, reporting, and audit readiness to support successful execution of the project and future funding opportunities.

Work Location & Travel
Hybrid/remote work environment with periodic travel across Allegany, Garrett, and Washington Counties, in Western Maryland, for engagement sessions and research validation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grant Compliance Oversight (Ongoing)
Monitor all project activities to ensure compliance with ARC funding requirements, federal guidelines, and contractual obligations.
Documentation & Recordkeeping (Continuous)
Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation including deliverables, financial records, and supporting materials.
Reporting & Submission Management (Recurring)
Support preparation and submission of required progress reports, compliance documentation, and final project reports.
Audit Readiness & Support (Milestone-Driven)
Prepare project records for audit reviews and support responses to compliance inquiries from funders or auditors.
Policy & Process Alignment (Phase-Driven)
Ensure project processes align with federal, state, and institutional compliance requirements; recommend improvements where needed.
Cross-Functional Coordination (Continuous)
Work with project team members to ensure compliance requirements are understood, implemented, and documented across all workstreams.
Risk Identification & Mitigation (Ongoing)
Identify compliance risks and support development of mitigation strategies to reduce exposure and ensure project integrity.
 
Required Qualifications
Experience in grant compliance, federal program administration, or regulatory oversight; strong understanding of documentation and reporting requirements; attention to detail; ability to manage multiple compliance processes simultaneously.

Certifications
Not required, but compliance or grants management certifications preferred.

Highly Valued Certifications
Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) or equivalent experience.
