Nursing Faculty Development Specialist Rasmussen University Mokena, IL The Nursing Faculty Development Specialist ensures the pre-licensure nursing program exhibits the attributes of a highly successful nursing program that delivers completion rates and NCLEX pass rates (program outcomes) at or above 90%. Adhering to the mission of the School of Nursing, the Nursing Faculty Development Specialist is expected to provide training to ensure faculty have the teaching skills and expertise to cultivate a learning environment to develop students’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and clinical judgment. The Nursing Faculty Development Specialist works with pre-licensure administrators and faculty providing continuous training to ensure program quality evidenced by program outcomes consistently achieving the identified desired levels. The Nursing Faculty Development Specialist works collaboratively with the campus nursing administrator and faculty to identify faculty training needs. The Nursing Faculty Development Specialist delivers training focused on the identified needs and ensures the training is implemented and used as needed. Responsibilities: Designs and delivers training for faculty that results in student completion rates and NCLEX pass rates that remain stable at or above 90%. Identifies faculty training needs required to maintain quality program outcomes. Collaborates with nursing administrators about training needs of faculty as a group and individual faculty members. Conducts faculty development training sessions focused on improving and updating faculty teaching skills related to all aspects of the teaching/learning/evaluation process. Works with faculty groups to implement training from faculty development sessions to ensure the training is implement as intended for ongoing program improvement. Uses a deep understanding of all aspects of the NCLEX and NCLEX-related topics to ensure faculty are well-informed about the licensing examination. Only uses NCLEX information that is gleaned directly from the NCSBN. Engages in continuous education of self to remain current on changes to the NCLEX. Applies effective, evidence-based teaching strategies and techniques when providing faculty development training sessions. Demonstrates ability to create high levels of nursing administrator and faculty engagement during training sessions. Reviews, analyzes, and reports to nursing administrators and faculty all program data related to completion rates and NCLEX pass rates to identify areas of concern. Works immediately with nursing administrators and faculty to solve problems identified by data from all sources (internal and external) that indicate student academic issues, decreasing completion rates, and decreasing NCLEX pass rates to reverse any undesirable trends. Fully engages in the program reports from Mountain Measurement, immediately identifies undesirable trends, and works with nursing administrators and faculty to reverse the trends. Attends and contributes to full faculty meetings and meetings of the nursing program curriculum, evaluation, and admission committees. Identifies own need for and engages in continuing education to enhance knowledge of educational principles and practices that can be used in the nursing program to enhance program outcomes. Reporting Relationships: This role will report to the Dean of Nursing. Requirements: Master’s Degree in Nursing Education Required; Doctorate degree in Nursing Education Preferred Academic Nurse Educator or Willingness to Obtain Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a nurse educator required, 5 years preferred Working knowledge of the NCLEX testing guidelines, expectations, the detailed test plan, and other aspects of the NCLEX is preferred. Experience working with students and faculty on issues related to student completion rates and NCLEX pass rates is preferred. Self‐motivated, flexible, and able to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with nursing administrators and nursing faculty. Excellent written communication, verbal communication and presentation skills required. Willingness to engage in continuing education to maintain a high level of skill.
