JOB SUMMARY:  Perform a variety of tasks on heavy duty trucks and trailers. Will perform diagnostic tests for routine maintenance procedures and determine a course of action for damaged, missing and replacement parts and systems. This position is primarily responsible for inspecting & preparing new tractors for in-service, used tractors for re-assignment and sale tractors for delivery to our customers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reports to the Shop Foreman for daily assignments, with work prioritized according to shop demand and fleet maintenance needs.
• Performs repairs, maintenance, and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and other fleet equipment.
• Maintains safe work practices and follows applicable safety, security, and equipment handling procedures.
• Build and create work orders in our computer system/handheld device for in house as well as outsourced work.
• Inspects trucks, trailers, and fleet equipment to identify defects, damage, and maintenance needs
• Performs basic body repairs and replaces damaged body components and structural parts.
• Removes, replaces, and services tires and wheels.
• Conducts Department of Transportation (DOT) inspections, including FMCSA annual inspections.
• Uses hydraulic jacks, hoists, and other shop equipment to safely access and service vehicle components.
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with drivers, shop personnel, and other company associates.
• Maintains a clean work area and cleans tools

REQUIREMENTS:

• Attendance as scheduled is an essential function of this position.
• 1-2 years industry experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must have Brake and AVI certified IAW with CFR 49. Wilson will provide training and certification for those not already certified.
• Must have and be able to use basic hand tools and pneumatic tools.
• Experience with Windows based operating systems.
• A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines.
• Be able to safely operate heavy equipment on the yard to include entry and exit of shop bays

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to noise, heat, excessive changes in temperature and humidity, and airborne dust particles.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Associate is frequently required to operate machinery and repetitively grasp objects simply and firmly and use fine manipulation dexterity. Must be able to work at heights of 14 feet. Associate must occasionally sit, stand, walk, squat/kneel, crawl/kneel, bend/stoop, twist/turn, push/pull, flex/extend/rotate neck and wrists, rotate forearms, reach vertically and horizontally, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs. Must be able to use hands together and separately at all levels from ankle to above head. Must use both feet together, separately and repetitively to operate equipment. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Must be able to hear and follow instruction.
