Director of Software Engineering - Data & Analytics

Job Description Please Note: This is a Utah-based hybrid position which will require some regular in-office days each week. Essential Job Duties Our ideal Director of Software Engineering will be an integral contributor to the current and next generation of our app. You'll be working on multiple projects with multiple teams to continue making us the #1 HR Software for SMB business. You will be focused on the Analytical and Data components within our Product. If you get a kick out of solving problems and building beautiful world-class software, you will love BambooHR. Lead a division of our product's software engineering team with a specialization in the Analytical and Data domains. Oversee multiple teams and manage engineering managers reporting directly to you Demonstrate leadership and patience through regular coaching and mentoring in individual and team settings. You'll need to love coaching and mentoring Leaders. Consult with leaders across Product Development (Product Design, Product Management, QA, and IT) to help your managers and tech leads explore and deliver software solutions. Continually embrace accountability in team and individual performance (yours and others) in sprint goals and quarterly Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). Work closely with architects and platform teams to understand technical/architectural hurdles in your team's scope and prioritize solutions and direction. What You Need to Get the Job Done 2+ years of heavy experience focused on data and analytics software products 15+ years of experience in software development. 10+ years of experience in SaaS and SMB. 5+ years of demonstrated real world Director level / technical leadership experience. 5+ years experience with proven track record of guiding teams in the development of Analytical and Data Products. Object-oriented development experience. MySQL/MSSQL - both query language and database structure/design Demonstrated leadership and directing experience in Data Warehousing, with proficiency in tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, or similar platforms. Version control software, preferably Git. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. What Will Make Us REALLY Love you Proficiency in documenting processes and monitoring performance metrics. Knowledge and experience of internal business tools and how that affects how the software works. Architectural, hands on experience in Data Warehousing Architectural experience and expertise. Services development in a language like PHP, Python, Java, or C#, and a desire to work in PHP (7.4+) Experience in React, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, Experience in developing Software-as-a-Service (fast release cycles that still support an existing user base) A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related degree or formal training in a related field What You'll Love About Us Great Company Culture .
