Occupational Therapists use their expertise to support student outcomes, these include but are not limited to: training in self-care and activities of daily living, pre-vocational training skills, functional motor skills including accessibility and safety, sensory-motor integration techniques, fine-motor skill development, visual motor development, bilateral coordination skills, postural control, adaptive equipment or techniques, perceptual motor training, and strengthening and stretching exercises. This position requires direct interaction with students, as well as the development and implementation of educational plans with teachers, administrators, and parents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide fine motor, sensory, and functional assessments (evaluations/screenings) to assist in determining a student’s eligibility for special education and their ability to access and benefit from their education. Provide services as deemed appropriate by the evaluation findings and develop measurable school-based goals in respect to the students total environment, needs, and input from the educational team. Develop interventions and strategies to meet established goals. Monitor progress toward these goals and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide direct or consultative therapy services via interaction with students or consultative services amongst the team using appropriate therapeutic techniques. Collaborate with the educational team to develop and implement strategies and techniques to support the student’s program such as adaptations, accommodations, positioning, and equipment related to environmental and/or physical needs. Comply with all IEP requirements, written reports, records/testing protocols, progress notes, student attendance, and data-keeping. Participate in student meetings: domain, initial evaluation, re-evaluation, annual review, team meetings, etc. Maintain files and/or records in accordance with the Illinois Occupational Therapy Practice Act. Share information and train staff, parents, and students through instruction, modeling, and service within the classroom and/or school environment. Explain information in a clear understandable way to the audience and provide strategies and support parents. . Secure a written physician’s prescription/referral for each student who requires direct services and complete billing for Medicaid-eligible students. Complete Medicaid and Administrative Outreach within time limits. Participate in the selection of therapy-based equipment and supplies. Participate in the ordering and upkeep of the Curriculum. Qualification Requirements: Current Illinois IDPR Occupational Therapist License (applied for or in the process of obtaining) Must have valid Illinois Driver’s license and automobile insurance for travel between schools.

PHYSCIAL THERAPIST:

The physical therapist is responsible for using the best evidence-based practices to evaluate students to determine their need for physical therapy services. They are responsible for making data-driven decisions to develop and deliver IEP-driven therapy services, attending all required IEP meetings, and mobility device evaluations. They are also responsible for training staff on various lifting methods as well as use of physical therapy equipment, and all other duties as assigned. Duties Assess and evaluate students using appropriate school evaluations Interpret diagnostic tests materials and complete paperwork requirements for annual reviews and three-year re-evaluations Research new gross motor evaluations that could be relevant for the student population at FAEC Maintain an updated equipment list Schedule and implement student physical therapy services, incorporating goals and objectives, as stated in the IEP Assist, instruct, and train additional staff in proper positioning of students within the classroom, gym, changing/toileting areas, and equipment. Maintain daily charting of therapy sessions and accurate data collection toward IEP goals. Engage in collaborative communication with parents and district representatives to discuss student progress and student needs Monitor students in several settings documenting and analyzing student progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed Creates and adapts learning materials to students’ needs Collaborates with the student’s IEP team to develop and implement the student’s IEP Uses assessment/baseline data and progress monitoring data to develop vigorously appropriate IEPs goals as needed Participates in all required meetings and completes all required sections of the IEP process Implement FA/BIP, as required, during therapy sessions to ensure services are conducted with as little behavioral interruptions as possible Support the utilization of specialized technology and adapted equipment to allow students to meaningfully participate within their environment, access their education, and to foster independence Implements individual behavior plans according to approved procedures, as needed to implement occupational therapy services Work across grade levels to provide appropriate occupational therapy services with no level underserved Evaluate, prepare, and submit monthly reports as required by the state of Illinois, districts, administration, and families (e.g., attendance, Medicaid/Insurance billing). Maintain and manage accurate and up-to-date schedules, caseload, and workload Prepare weekly lessons that fulfill the requirements of the student’s IEP Consult & collaborate with IEP team members to create functional goals, ensuring they are appropriate and can be carried over to other environments within the school setting. Collaborate with supervising staff and ensure student needs are met, Create and maintain and reports that are prepared, in advance, for upcoming meetings Maintain an organized & clean therapy/ gym area.
