Activity Bus Driver Contracted Position

Asheville City Schools seeks a qualified and reliable Activity Bus Driver (Contracted Position) to support student transportation for field trips, athletic events, and extracurricular programs. Key responsibilities include safely transporting students to and from scheduled activities, maintaining order and ensuring student safety during transit, following designated routes and time schedules, conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, and communicating with staff and transportation supervisors regarding schedules, delays, and concerns.

Qualifications include a valid North Carolina CDL with Passenger & School Bus Endorsements, a clean driving record and background check, previous bus driving experience preferred, punctuality, dependability, strong communication skills, being 18 years of age, a pre-employment DOT Drug Test, a pre-employment Criminal/DMV check, physical standards test, and all legal requirements of the NC DMV and Asheville City Schools, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a clear criminal background check. Must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse.

Terms: Contracted Position paid per trip/hourly rate. $18.90-$20.86 based on experience. Flexible scheduling based on district activity needs. May be eligible for inter-district driver support.
