Duties and Responsibilities

• Directly supervises and evaluates 3-5 full-time professional Resident Directors (RDs); indirectly supervises additional Residence Life staff and students.

• Manages daily operations of front desk services in the residence halls, including customer service, staffing, equipment, access and safety.

• Serve in second-level 24/7 on-call rotation for all residential students to manage emergencies and crises.

• Contribute to the planning and implementation of major departmental processes, including hall opening and closing and tasks pertaining to communication, logistics and coordination with internal and external constituents.

• Develop programs, services and initiatives that meet the needs and contribute to the positive experiences of students living in the residence halls with specific focus on customer services/resident satisfaction, safety, and leadership development via student employment.

• Serve as a Conduct Administrator and adjudicate high level student conduct cases that occur in the residence halls.

• Forge strong collaborative relationships with an array of offices across campus to recommend policies, design processes, and support initiatives that enhance the residential living experience – particularly in Career Development Center/Student Employment and Campus Safety.

• Develop and utilize assessment and research strategies to assist in the implementation of effective services within the department and residence halls.

• Demonstrate an understanding of and appreciation for the Jesuit mission and the values of Loyola University Chicago, including a commitment to social justice and inclusion.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience

• Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education/Student affairs or another related field.

• Prior experience in residence life and/or other areas of student affairs.

• Prior experience in residence life and/or other areas of student affairs

• Ability and willingness to work varied hours including evenings and weekends as needed

• Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work effectively with staff and students

• Demonstrated commitment to social justice

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

• Demonstrated skills in crisis management

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with offices and departments in and outside of student affairs

• Experience in supervising and advising paraprofessional staff and student leaders
