Park Maintenance Worker {Seasonal - Part-Time}The City of Independence is seeking seasonal Park Maintenance Workers to work under the city's Parks & Recreation Department. The Parks & Recreation Department is committed to excellence in programming, facilities, and service while improving the quality of life within our community.The primary responsibility of City of Independence Park Maintenance Workers are to perform routine maintenance related work to uphold the beautification standards of the City's exterior campus, parks and green spaces.Duties and Responsibilities:Maintain park groundsMow and maintain lawnsTrim hedgesPlant flowersKeep the park(s) clean and tidyAssist with maintenance and preservation of treesPlanting of trees and shrubsPreparing park areas for season changes (i.e., fall leaf cleanup, mulching in spring, etc.)Daily cleaning duties which include vacuuming, skimming and brushing pools, cleaning/scrubbing pool decks, cleaning and around pool buildings/locker rooms, emptying trash, moving/restocking supplies.Necessary Competencies:AccountabilityCoaches and Resolves ConflictCommunicationCustomer Service FocusAbility to Manage Change / AdaptabilityPlanning and ExecutionProblem SolvingPrioritizingMulti-taskingStrategic PlanningTeamworkRequirements:Must pass a drug test and background check.Must possess at least a high-school diploma.Must be able to work the following variable shifts throughout the term the entire 7-day week:Physical Requirements:Ability to stand, walk, and move in and around external grounds for extended periods of time.Maintain vigilance and fast reaction times.Ability to physically stand, bend, squat and lift up to 50lbs.Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under typical Ohio weather conditions.Americans with Disabilities Act:The City of Independence is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.Salary Information:The pay range for this role is $12.00 - $19.00/per hour depending on experience.The City of Independence is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information.
