Part-Time Athletic Trainer (ATC) - On-Site Sports Care Pro

Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) – Part Time Position Type : Temporary Staff (ST – SHRA Temp Hourly). Hours vary based on sport club competitions. Start Date : Early August 2025. Position Summary The Athletic Trainer is the primary responder responsible for providing care for routine and emergent injuries sustained during Club Sports events. Playing a vital role in the department’s emergency action plan, the AT works with the Competitive Sports Staff to ensure club participants, spectators, and visitors are afforded a reasonably safe participation environment. Task & Supervision The AT reports directly to the Assistant Director of Competitive Sports and may receive additional direction from the Competitive Sports Leadership Team and the supervising physician. Responsibilities include immediate care, determining fitness to return to play, and monitoring environmental factors that may impact safety. Event Coverage (85%) Provide on‑site care and management of injuries including prevention, evaluation, and treatment. Provide emergency medical care for conditions such as cardiac arrest, commotio cordis, cervical spine injury, traumatic brain injury, heat stroke, and exertional sickling. Monitor and assess environmental factors that may impact safety of participants. Communicate with players, coaches, and staff regarding the injury status of participants. Provide rehabilitation, treatment, and referral recommendations as necessary. Communication & Record Keeping (15%) Complete all required documentation regarding injury care. Communicate with supervising physician regarding issues related to care and appropriate practices. Monitor medical supply inventory levels and communicate replacement needs. Assist in the development of the care protocols in conjunction with the supervising physician. Minimum Qualifications North Carolina Athletic Trainer Licensure. BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Bachelor’s degree or higher from a CAATE‑accredited program. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers, including CPR and AED (e.g., American Red Cross or American Heart Association). Strong communication skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to work in a fast-paced and flexible environment. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working in an impact sports environment. Master’s degree in athletic training, kinesiology, or a related field. Recruitment Range $23.94 per hour.
