Senior Director, Immunology

Senior Director overseeing multiple immunology research programs supporting Vertex's cell and genetic therapy portfolio. This Boston-based position leads cross-functional teams in drug discovery strategy, translational science, and advancement of novel immunomodulatory approaches for allogeneic transplantation and immune-mediated therapies.
Responsibilities
- Lead 2+ research programs as team lead, driving cross-functional collaboration and goal alignment
- Develop strategy and capabilities for novel drug discovery in Type 1 diabetes
- Provide scientific and organizational leadership for immunology research supporting cell and genetic therapies
- Identify, validate, and advance novel therapeutic targets through development with quality execution
- Manage budgets, hiring, and staff development while mentoring high-performing scientists
Requirements
- PhD or MD in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, or related discipline
- 12+ years immunology industry experience or equivalent
- Proven leadership of cross-functional teams through discovery to IND/FIM/PoC stages
- Deep expertise in autoimmunity, transplantation, Type 1 diabetes, and immune response analysis
- Advanced technical skills in flow cytometry, cell culture assays, RNA-seq, and immunological methods
- Strong scientific judgment and strategic portfolio development capabilities
Compensation: $237,900 - $356,900 base
