About the role We are looking for an operator to serve as the onboard safety driver for Gatik’s autonomous trucks. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient testing. Your responsibilities demand the highest level of professionalism, keen attention to detail, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in a dynamic environment. You will play a crucial role and assist with on-road testing while maintaining awareness of surrounding vehicles and road conditions. This role is onsite at our Denison, TX office! What you'll do Operate a support vehicle to assist with testing operations Manage road interactions to help maintain a controlled testing environment Stay highly aware of surrounding conditions, adapting as needed Prioritize safety for all road users throughout the process Maintain clear and effective communication with the team, following established protocols Exercise strong situational awareness to proactively identify and address potential challenges What we're looking for Minimum of 3 years of experience driving a box truck Possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no major infractions Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as needed Bonus Qualifications Previous experience in autonomous driving, testing or similar field Knowledge of DOT regulations and FMCSA rules is a plus Understanding of vehicle dynamics and traffic management principles A positive attitude and enthusiasm for autonomous vehicle technology are highly valued Equal Opportunity We at Gatik strive to create a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels they have opportunities to succeed and grow because we know that together we can do great things.
