Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, and reporting, maintaining comprehensive records of patient test results.
• Ensure proficiency testing samples are tested consistently with patient specimens and analyze specimens using approved testing methods per department SOPs.
• Review and review test results before release, adhering to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Maintain and document quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and equipment maintenance.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and correct test performance issues; document corrective actions taken.
• Follow procedures for reporting STAT or critical test results to clients and respond to inquiries from laboratory personnel or clients when needed.
• Maintain a neat and organized department workspace, track reagent and test kit expiration dates, and ensure proper storage.
• Participate in training on new laboratory procedures and attend department meetings and safety training sessions.
• Assist with government or regulatory inspections when required and ensure compliance with safety and laboratory protocols.

Required Skills

• Solid understanding of basic laboratory testing and procedures for high-complexity testing.
• Proficiency with computer systems and familiarity with QC and QA practices in a laboratory setting.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple procedures simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with colleagues and clients.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• BS in Medical Technology is preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an Associates degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• Candidates must possess or be eligible for national certification as an MT or MLT from ASCP or AMT.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in high-complexity testing preferred, especially chemistry experience.
• Current U.S. education credentials or detailed credential evaluation from IERF for foreign-educated candidates.
• State or national licensure as required by applicable regulations.
• Ability to establish work priorities, handle multiple procedures, and communicate effectively with team members and clients.
