Associate Scientist, Biology-Discovery

Merck seeks an Associate Scientist to support formulation development of veterinary monoclonal antibodies and biologics. The role involves hands-on laboratory work in formulation screening, stability testing, and analytical characterization, collaborating with cross-functional research and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare formulation buffers, excipient solutions, standards, and samples using established chemical techniques
• Execute formulation screening and optimization studies evaluating pH, buffers, salts, surfactants, and stabilizers
• Conduct stress studies including freeze-thaw, agitation, and accelerated stability assessments
• Perform analytical testing using UV-Vis spectroscopy, chromatography, electrophoresis, and thermal analysis
• Analyze experimental data, identify trends, and document findings in electronic laboratory notebooks

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
• Laboratory experience in chemistry, pharmaceutical, analytical, or biologics environments
• Proficiency in solution preparation, pH buffering, dilution, and physicochemical principles
• Hands-on experience with analytical instruments and quantitative data generation
• Strong attention to detail with accurate documentation and result interpretation skills
• Data analysis capability using Excel, GraphPad Prism, or equivalent software
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
