Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Deputy Planning and Engineering Director for one of our offices in Sacramento, CA. This role ensures consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance of engineering design documents while providing strategic guidance on environmental policies in alignment with federal and state requirements. The Director collaborates closely with Construction and Rail Operations to develop system-wide policies and oversee the design of station areas and alignments.Assisting the front-end elements of construction projects, ensuring smooth execution from conception through design and constructionSupport the development, maintain, and enforce engineering design guidance documents, including design criteria, technical specifications, and engineering management plansProvide strategic environmental guidance, maintaining compliance with environmental regulations and assisting with necessary federal and state approvals for construction projectsCollaborate with the Construction and Rail Operations Offices to develop and implement systems-related policies, including those related to integration and system certificationSupport the design, planning, and commercial development of station areas, alignments, and support all construction-related inquiriesSupporting the finishing checkpoint to collaborate on all infrastructure engineering issues, ensuring designs meet the requirements and standards​QualificationsMinimum requirements:BA/BS + 12 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 4 years of leadership.Preferred Requirements:Master’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related fieldProfessional Engineer (PE) license or other relevant engineering certificationsProject Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar project management credentialProven experience in managing public sector planning and engineering projects or working with government agenciesExpertise in environmental compliance and sustainability practices in infrastructure developmentStrong knowledge of systems integration, network integration, and system certification processesFamiliarity with advanced project management software (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project) and engineering design toolsExtensive experience in overseeing engineering and planning operations, ensuring compliance with established standardsProven ability to manage large-scale projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsStrong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability initiatives, and infrastructure designExcellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide strategic guidance and drive project successExcellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and develop complex stakeholder relationshipsAdditional InformationAbout AECOMAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
