BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Project Manager – Capital Projects Job Title: Project Manager – Capital Projects Duration: 2-Year Contract Work Location: 10 Moore Dr, Durham, NC 27709 Job Description We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Capital Projects to lead and manage multiple capital construction and facility improvement projects across our U.S. facilities network. This role is responsible for delivering projects ranging from $500K to $5M involving laboratories, office spaces, and regional accessioning facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in capital project management within life sciences, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or clinical laboratory environments and a proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end execution of multiple capital projects across laboratory, office, and operational facilities. Develop and manage project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, procurement strategy, risk management, and communications. Coordinate feasibility studies, design development, engineering reviews, and construction activities with internal stakeholders and external consultants. Oversee construction execution, commissioning, project closeout, and transition to operations. Ensure compliance with corporate standards, EHS requirements, and industry best practices for laboratory and healthcare facilities. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal business partners and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare and present project status reports, dashboards, budgets, and executive updates. Manage project financials, including budgets, forecasts, cost tracking, and capital funding documentation. Identify and mitigate project risks related to schedule, cost, quality, safety, and operations. Review contractor proposals, change orders, invoices, and vendor performance. Partner with Procurement and Legal on RFPs, contract negotiations, and vendor management. Coordinate projects across multiple U.S. locations and travel to project sites as needed. Required Qualifications Associate's Degree in Construction Management or a related field, or 4 years of active military service, or 7+ years of commercial construction experience in one of the building trades. 8–10 years of progressive experience managing capital construction projects. Experience delivering projects within life sciences, pharmaceutical, healthcare, clinical laboratories, or other highly regulated environments. Strong knowledge of project management methodologies including scope, schedule, budget, risk management, and change control. Experience coordinating architects, engineers, contractors, and cross-functional business stakeholders. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects across various locations. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Facilities Management, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as PMP, CHFM, CHC , or equivalent. Experience with CAD, Revit, or similar drafting software. Experience working in laboratory, pharmaceutical, or healthcare construction projects. Working Conditions Primarily office and active construction site environments. Ability to climb ladders and access roofs or mechanical equipment when required. Ability to work outdoors while evaluating site conditions. Ability to walk, bend, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs overhead . Regular travel to multiple U.S. project locations as required. Valid North Carolina Driver's License required.
