Job Posting Title: Director, Health & Safety
Time Type: Full Time

The Director, Health & Safety - NASA Region is the senior regional leader accountable for the implementation, governance and performance of the Health & Safety function across DSV's in-scope Contract Logistics and Data Centre operations throughout North and South America.

Reporting to Senior Vice Presented with a dotted line to the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance, the role translates the global Health & Safety strategy, management system and customer requirements into consistent and effective regional execution, while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial and local legislation.

The role leads, manages and develops the regional Health & Safety team, including Regional Safety Managers, establishing clear accountabilities, performance expectations and consistent ways of working across countries, sites and operational portfolios.

The position owns regional Health & Safety governance, performance monitoring, operational risk oversight, incident escalation, investigation assurance, audit and corrective-action effectiveness. It provides authoritative leadership to regional and site operations, challenges unsafe practices, escalates material risks and ensures appropriate controls are implemented.

As the senior regional Health & Safety representative, the role works closely with regional business leadership, site management, the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance and customer Health & Safety leadership to maintain regulatory compliance, meet contractual requirements, strengthen safety culture and deliver measurable, sustained improvements in operational safety performance.

Key Responsibilities
A. Regional Strategy, Leadership and Governance
  • Lead implementation of the Global Health & Safety strategy, policies, standards and mandatory programmes throughout the NASA Region
  • Develop and execute a regional Health & Safety plan aligned with global objectives, DSV business priorities, customer commitments and applicable legal obligations
  • Own the regional Health & Safety governance framework, including review cadence, decision-making, escalation routes and accountability for actions
  • Set clear expectations for regional and site teams and verify consistent execution across countries, sites and operational portfolios
  • Advise and challenge Regional Directors, Site General Managers and operational leaders on material risks, compliance gaps and safety performance
  • Represent NASA in global Health & Safety governance and represent the regional function in customer and business reviews as required
  • Escalate significant risks, serious incidents, repeated control failures and unresolved compliance issues promptly to the Global Head of Safety

B. Regional Team Leadership and Capability
  • Directly manage, lead, coach and develop Regional Safety Managers, setting objectives, responsibilities, priorities and performance expectations
  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and regional team meetings; monitor delivery against agreed objectives and address underperformance
  • Define and maintain clear geographical, site and operational portfolios for regional team members, avoiding gaps or duplication in coverage
  • Assess team capability, competency, capacity and resource requirements; develop and implement plans to address identified gaps
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, talent development and succession planning for the regional Health & Safety function in partnership with P&O
  • Build a consistent regional team culture that encourages collaboration, accountability, professional challenge and sharing of best practice
  • Ensure regional and site-level Health & Safety roles have appropriate competence, authority and access to relevant training and resources

C. Health & Safety Management and Operational Risk
  • Ensure effective implementation of DSV Health & Safety policies, standards, procedures and programmes across all in-scope operations
  • Oversee regional risk assessment processes and verify that site-level assessments are suitable, current and reviewed following material changes or incidents
  • Lead risk-based improvement initiatives using the hierarchy of controls and verify that critical controls are implemented and effective
  • Review risks associated with new business, new site launches, operational changes, increased workload, new equipment and changes to staffing or processes
  • Ensure pre-start-up safety reviews and operational readiness assessments are completed before new or materially changed operations commence, as applicable
  • Oversee risk controls for material handling equipment, pedestrian and vehicle segregation, dock safety, lifting and movement of heavy equipment or server racks, contractor activities, permit-to-work interfaces and other high-risk tasks relevant to the operation
  • Conduct and oversee risk-based site visits to verify implementation and effectiveness of controls, and ensure findings are addressed
  • Promote proactive hazard identification, safety observations, near-miss reporting, behavioural safety, safety campaigns and employee engagement

D. Incident Management, Investigation and Escalation
  • Ensure incidents, injuries, near misses, high-potential events, property damage and other reportable Health & Safety events are reported and escalated within DSV and customer timeframes
  • Maintain regional oversight of incident classification, notification, investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Lead or oversee significant and high-potential incident investigations, ensuring appropriate participation from operations and relevant subject matter experts
  • Review investigation quality and verify that root causes are identified and corrective and preventive actions are proportionate, assigned, completed and effective
  • Monitor incident trends, repeat events and emerging risks; develop and track regional action plans to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure lessons learned are communicated to relevant sites, regional leadership, the Global Head of Safety and customers where required
  • Support regional response to serious incidents and emergencies, including accurate and timely executive and customer updates

E. Audit, Compliance and Assurance
  • Develop, manage and maintain a risk-based regional Health & Safety audit, inspection and assurance programme aligned with global and customer requirements
  • Conduct or oversee Health & Safety audits, compliance reviews and management-system assessments across in-scope operations
  • Coordinate regional readiness for customer audits and external regulatory inspections, ensuring findings and commitments are managed effectively
  • Maintain oversight of applicable legal and other compliance obligations, including regional and site compliance registers where required
  • Verify implementation of DSV management-system requirements and customer-mandated standards across all operational locations
  • Monitor corrective-action plans, challenge overdue or ineffective actions and escalate significant or repeated gaps
  • Identify systemic weaknesses and drive improvements across multiple sites rather than treating findings as isolated local issues

F. Customer Health & Safety Management
  • Act as the senior regional Health & Safety interface for designated key customers and their regional Health & Safety leadership
  • Ensure customer-specific Health & Safety requirements and contractual commitments are understood, communicated, implemented and verified
  • Participate in customer governance meetings, audits, operational reviews and performance discussions as required
  • Provide accurate regional Health & Safety performance reports, incident analysis, improvement plans and executive-level presentations
  • Coordinate responses to customer findings and improvement requests, ensuring ownership, due dates, evidence and effectiveness checks are maintained
  • Work with customers and DSV stakeholders to ensure critical life-safety controls and high-risk work requirements are understood and applied
  • Escalate customer concerns, significant performance deterioration and unresolved commitments to the Global Head of Safety

G. Training, Competence and Safety Culture
  • Identify regional Health & Safety training needs and ensure required competencies, training matrices and verification processes are maintained
  • Ensure onboarding and induction arrangements cover relevant DSV, customer, site and legal requirements
  • Coach regional and site leaders in risk management, incident learning, safety leadership and the application of global programs
  • Monitor training completion and competence assurance, addressing gaps and verifying effectiveness where appropriate
  • Promote employee engagement, worker consultation, safety champion networks, proactive reporting and recognition of positive safety behaviors
  • Share lessons learned and effective practices across NASA and with the global Health & Safety function

H. Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management
  • Verify that sites maintain appropriate emergency response plans, roles, contacts and arrangements relevant to their risks and legal obligations
  • Oversee the completion and review of emergency drills and exercises and ensure learning points are addressed
  • Provide Health & Safety leadership during significant incidents and emergencies and support regional crisis management and business continuity arrangements
  • Ensure relevant emergency response personnel receive appropriate training and competency support

I. Performance Management, Reporting and Continuous Improvement
  • Own the NASA regional Health & Safety scorecard and provide timely, accurate reporting to the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance Head of Safety and regional leadership
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators, including incident rates and trends, serious/high-potential events, reporting timeliness, investigation quality, action closure, audit findings, training compliance and program implementation
  • Analyse performance data to identify systemic issues, emerging risks, recurring incidents and opportunities for improvement
  • Agree with regional objectives and improvement plans with the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance, translate them into team and site-level actions, and track delivery
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports, dashboards and presentations, including clear explanations of performance, key risks, decisions required and corrective actions
  • Drive continual improvement and verify that implemented actions deliver sustained improvements in safety performance

Decision-Making and Authority
  • Set regional Health & Safety priorities and direct the work of direct-report Regional Safety Managers within the agreed global strategy and delegated authority
  • Require regional and site teams to address identified Health & Safety gaps and provide evidence of corrective action and control effectiveness
  • Escalate material risks, serious incidents, repeated non-compliance and overdue critical actions directly to the Global Director of HSSE, Quality & Compliance
  • Recommend additional resources, specialist support, operational changes or risk-control measures where existing arrangements are inadequate
  • Exercise or invoke stop-work / stop-task escalation in accordance with DSV policy, applicable law and agreed operational procedures where there is an imminent or unacceptable risk
  • Make recommendations to regional leadership on risk acceptance, operational readiness and resumption of work following significant safety concerns, within the role's delegated authority

Key Performance Measures
