Equipment Supervisor

Position Summary We’re looking for motivated, engaged people to help make everyone’s journeys better. The position is responsible for supervising employees in the dish/EPA, pre-load, liquor/beverage and transportation areas. Ensures timely completion of all required activities in support of catering efforts. Responsibilities Lead and direct all dish room, liquor/beverage process employees, ensuring quality production standards are maintained for all accounts. Maintain company policies, procedures, and specification books for airline customers, serving as a knowledgeable resource. Prepare management reports (e.g., attendance, HACCP, labor) as required. Ensure safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Ensure specifications, airline diagrams and other standards are accurate per airline specifications. Coding of products according to Gate Gourmet procedures. Conduct inventory of Gate Gourmet products and customer materials to ensure proper usage and minimize waste. Complete requisitions for the storeroom to maintain adequate supply. Maintain daily temperature logs and other required logs and reports. Work with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and report maintenance issues timely. Control food cost and other controllable costs, working with management to improve unit performance. Perform performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and prepare corrective action for employees, liaising with HR and support functions. Manage work‑flow balancing and determine staffing needs per shift, including sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves and volume changes. Ensure compliance with company wage & hour policy, rest & meal breaks, and company processes. Train and monitor employees on proper work procedures to maximize productivity and minimize labor and food expenses. Monitor daily manpower planning, schedule employees and maintain employee retention and turnover reduction. Review and ensure employees in the chain of command are in correct cost centers and job titles; verify union‑represented pay rates based on wage scales and seniority. Ensure compliance with all company‑required policies, procedures and processes, including mandatory training. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred. Work Experience: 2+ years supervisory experience in a high‑volume manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment (or equivalent). Technical Skills: Must have strong leadership skills and manage a staff of 30+ hourly employees; current or previous labor relations experience a plus; ability to train others and give daily constructive feedback. Excellent time‑management, organizational, analytical and communication skills. Ability to innovate and implement operational improvements. Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office products. Must obtain ServSafe Certification; certified preferred. Language / Communication: Expresses oneself clearly and effectively; bilingual in English and one of Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi, or Polish is a plus.
