RN - Emergency Department

This position is for an RN in the Emergency Department. The facility has 44 licensed beds and is not trauma designated. It functions as a teaching hospital. There are 10 Emergency Department bays available. A helipad is on site for transfers. Patient types commonly seen include COPD, CHF, chest pain, myocardial infarction, N-STEMI, stroke, TIA, and new onset cardiac arrhythmia. The patient ratio is 1 RN to 4-5 patients, based on acuity. A CNA is assigned with a ratio of 1 to 10. Support within the department includes a CNA, charge nurse, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and ED physicians available 24/7. Bedside and central telemonitoring is utilized. The EMR system is Epic, and general medical-surgical equipment and telemonitors are used. Travelers will be required to float to other facilities as needed within the scope of practice. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. Travelers will work 75% of holidays. Request for time off (RTO) can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours. Scrub color required is navy.
