Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Stepdown position requiring 2+ years of pediatric cardiac stepdown experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• Pediatric Stepdown unit caring for patients with cardiac defects, both medical and surgical
• Patient care includes trachs/vents, high flow nasal cannula, post-op cath patients, and post-op CTICU patients
• Cares for patients receiving inotropes and heart/lung transplant recipients
• Day (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and Night (3x12, 19:00-7:00) shifts with rotation in 6-week intervals
• Every other weekend required
• Floating to other units required based on assignment needs
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac stepdown experience required
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a pediatric hospital setting required
• Previous travel experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience with central line and peripheral line care and management
• Proficient in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and post cardiac catheterization care preferred
• Skilled in NG tube insertion/management and pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound assessment/care
• Two supervisory references required at time of consideration, with at least one from a manager or supervisor (charge references not accepted)

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients with complex cardiac conditions
• Candidates must not have worked in a permanent role at this facility within the last 2 years
• Local candidates are not accepted; a 60-mile radius rule applies
• No call/no show policy strictly enforced
