In-Home Flooring Sales Consultant (Mobile Showroom, Assigned Appointments)

Location: West Metro Detroit & the I-96 Corridor, MI Territory: Novi, Livonia, Ann Arbor, Brighton, Howell, and East Lansing, plus nearby communities Work Setup: Dispatch from home – your day starts and ends at your house, no daily office commute Employment Type: Full-time, in-person, local territory Pay: $35,000 to $40,000 base salary, plus uncapped commission (typical $30,000 to $90,000)

Are you a confident, relationship-focused salesperson who enjoys helping homeowners make decisions? This role is built for someone who wants consultative, in-home sales without cold calling, door knocking, or chasing their own leads. Appointments come to you, you head out from home in a company van stocked with samples, and you focus on what you do best: presenting solutions and closing deals.

What Makes This a Strong Move:

• Assigned appointments: Meet with homeowners who have already requested information through Home Depot, typically 2 to 5 per day.
• No cold calling or canvassing: Your time goes to selling, not generating your own leads.
• Strong selling environment: Average close rates of 40 to 60 percent, with typical tickets of $5,000 to $20,000.
• Dispatch from home: Run your territory straight from your driveway along the I-96 corridor.
• Company-provided mobile showroom: A van stocked with samples and catalogs.
• Company covers the essentials: Vehicle, gas, tools, supplies, and technology are provided.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Driving the company van from home to in-home appointments across Novi, Livonia, Ann Arbor, Brighton, Howell, East Lansing, and surrounding areas.
• Consulting with homeowners, measuring square footage on site, and presenting flooring options from the mobile showroom.
• Building estimates and clear proposals, with home office support available for admin needs.
• Presenting proposals, answering questions, and closing sales.
• Helping customers understand financing options when it fits their needs.
• Completing same-day follow-up whenever possible.
• Keeping accurate notes and next steps in the CRM.

Important: After the sale, you are not responsible for install coordination or ongoing customer communication. You sell, document clearly, and the operations team takes it from there.

What You Bring:

• Experience in in-home, consultative, or similar customer-facing sales. Flooring, home improvement, remodeling, or construction sales experience is a plus.
• Confident closing skills and the ability to guide homeowners through buying decisions.
• Strong communication, organization, and reliable follow-through.
• Comfort discussing pricing, payment, and financing options with homeowners.
• Valid driver's license and a dependable driving record.
• Comfort working from a mobile showroom and handling samples throughout the day.
• Living in or near the territory (Ann Arbor, Novi, Livonia, Brighton, Howell, or the Lansing area) is strongly preferred.

Schedule and Training:

• Local travel only, no overnights.
• Appointments are booked weekly. Plan for 2 to 5 per day, with time for driving and follow-up.
• Late days on Tuesdays and Thursdays due to scheduled evening appointments.
• Training includes 3 to 4 days on-site in Cincinnati.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $35,000 to $40,000 base salary, paid weekly (Fridays).
• Commission paid every other Friday, calculated as a percent of total sales.
• Uncapped commission structure, with a typical commission range of $30,000 to $90,000.
• Company van, gas, tools, supplies, and technology provided.
• Benefits after 90 days: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, PTO, and life insurance.

Note: No draw or ramp. During training you earn base pay while you learn the process.

Physical Requirements:

• Carry product samples in and out of customer homes multiple times per day.
• Comfort navigating stairs, tight spaces, and typical in-home measuring conditions.
