Neurology Physician Assistant

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a dedicated Neurology Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team. Utilizing a patient-centered, coordinated care model, the APP will demonstrate strong competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation, and ethical decision-making. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary practice and hospital teams to assess, plan, and implement comprehensive care for individuals with neurological health needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct Clinical Care & Diagnostics Performs and documents accurate, complete, and relevant history and physical assessments appropriate for the patient's age, gender, and neurological presentation. Manages general medical and surgical conditions based on a comprehensive knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, and treatment modalities. Orders, performs, and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures in collaboration with physicians and consultants. Demonstrates clinical expertise through advanced assessment and procedural skills pertinent to the neurology specialty. Provides compassionate, patient- and family-centered care that effectively promotes health and treats disease. Medication Management & Patient Education Prescribes medications safely and effectively in accordance with best practices, hospital policy, and NJ regulations. Completes accurate medication reconciliations as appropriate. Identifies patient/family educational needs and provides culturally sensitive, educationally appropriate health management teaching. Care Coordination & Patient Advocacy Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all healthcare team members through active participation in daily interdisciplinary rounds. Evaluates patient/family transition of care planning, considering resource utilization, cost, quality, safety, and the promotion of self-management for chronic conditions. Serves as a dedicated advocate for patients and families, identifying obstacles to care progression, escalating issues, and coordinating interdisciplinary meetings to resolve ethical care issues. Quality Improvement & Evidence-Based Practice Applies evidence-based and value-based medicine to systematically analyze and improve patient care practices and outcomes. Translates best practices into clinical workflows by evaluating current protocols and standards of care. Promotes innovation by integrating new clinical knowledge into practice. Participates in clinical research activities and disseminates findings through practice, education, presentations, and publications. Leadership & Mentorship Serves as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team by addressing clinical, process, and system improvement opportunities. Mentors fellow APPs, precepts students in respective APN/PA programs, and facilitates educational programs as a clinical expert. Seeks opportunities to promote Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) APP practice recognition locally, nationally, and internationally. Participates in organizational and departmental meetings, committees, workgroups, and annual peer reviews. Compliance & Professional Accountability Practices as a healthcare provider according to the rules and regulations of the Medical Staff bylaws and delineation of privileges. Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice, adhering to ethical principles regarding patient confidentiality, informed consent, and adverse outcomes. Adheres to the legal framework and scope of practice defined by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs and all applicable statutes. Complies with all HMH policies, including infection control, safety protocols, disease-specific quality indicators, and organizational competencies. Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

For Physician Assistant (PA) Candidates: Education: Graduate of an AMA-accredited Physician Assistant program. Licenses & Certifications: Current Physician Assistant License. National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. General Skills (for all candidates): Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

COMPENSATION:

Minimum Starting Base Salary: $146,348.80 HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
