Surgical Technologist - Lakes Medical Center

Job Overview Fairview has an immediate opening for a Surgical Technologist at Wyoming Lakes Hospital located in Wyoming, MN. This is a 0.8 FTE, benefits-eligible opening, day/evening rotating shift with Saturday/Sunday call every 8-12 weeks and one weeknight call per pay period with the ability to pick up nights/weekends as needed. As a Surgical Technologist, you’ll assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, arranging, and passing instruments to surgeons, and ensuring a sterile environment under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You’ll play a crucial role in supporting the surgical team and maintaining the safety and efficiency of the operating room. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for: Supplying appropriate instruments, suture, and specialty items. Maintaining aseptic technique during all sterile procedures. Ensuring accurate identification and handling of specimens. Counting all required sponges, sharps, and instruments. Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of room in readiness of next patient. Aligns with and maintains knowledge of all relevant laws, regulation, policies, procedures, and standards. Cultivates a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Assuring availability and accurate functioning of supplies and equipment. Modifying clinical interventions based on population served. Nurturing a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking. Anticipating the surgeon’s needs. Following appropriate action in emergency situations. Required Qualifications Complete one of the following by hire date: Military Surgical Assistant; OR Surgical Technologist training Basic Life Support (BLS) through Health Care Providers (or ability to obtain by hire date) Preferred Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program AST certification or certification eligible at time of hire 1 to 3 years surgical tech experience Other Required Skills Knowledge of physical, psychosocial, and cognitive developmental needs of population served. Knowledge of age-appropriate outcomes and interventions. Desired Skills Demonstrate the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. Ability to work well under a team environment.
