Supervisory and teaching responsibilities, including documentation of supervision, coordination of curricular content with program director, and evaluation of residents. Responsible for appropriate behavioral science curriculum components and coordinate these with the general curriculum of the residency program director to include regular presentations, workshops, group meetings, and invited guests. Maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the students in the core clerkship curriculum. Works closely with Palliative Care and Geriatric divisions- Develop and teach the geriatric/palliative care behavioral science curriculum. Rounds with the Family Medicine Inpatient Service team, nursing home, and home visits assisting physicians and patients with Behavioral Science needs. Provides care and counseling in an outpatient setting at Family Health Center. Actively participates in Medical Staff and Hospital Committees. Anchors Job Criteria - Major Job Functions Measurement Resident Education Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas: Behavioral Science, Medical Knowledge, Practice Based Learning and Improvement, Communication/Interpersonal Skills, Professionalism; and Systems-Based Practice. Devote sufficient time to the educational program to fulfill supervisory and teaching responsibilities, including documentation of supervision, coordination of curricular content with program director, and evaluation of residents. Develop appropriate behavioral science curriculum components and coordinate these with the general curriculum of the residency program director to include regular presentations, workshops, group meetings, and invited guests. Design, execute, facilitate, train Standard Patient Role-Play Scenarios with Residents. Teach practical application of behavioral science concepts on FMIS. Develop curriculum, and execute and teach didactics in law-related issues to residents (ie domestic violence, mandated reporting, hospital policies and procedures, boundaries, communication with attorneys). Teach Business Practice Management by teaching didactics regarding law-related issues (ie contracts, expert testimony, statutory and constitutional and regulatory law issues). Teach office management issues (personality typology, managing people, identifying skills vs. talents of office staff). Facilitate Team Case Discussions with Faculty Physicians Geriatric Fellowship Education - teach the geriatric/palliative care behavioral science curriculum ACGME accreditation action, evaluations by residents of faculty and program, Program administrative support will be provided through the orientation of interns, including 2nd and 3rd year interns; participating in Motivational Interviewing training of residents; participating in the annual program evaluation; participating periodically in general residency activities such as recruitment, advisor for remediation, residency committees; attend and prepare presentations and workshops for Family Health Center morning report, Tuesday teaching sessions at the residency site and Department Grand Rounds; Behavioral science didactics during Tuesday Teaching; and perform any additional responsibilities as indicated by the Chief of the Department of Family medicine and the Director of medical Education at the MCCG. Observation; Peer Feedback; Orientation Documentation; Committee Minutes Provide supervision of residents and students at MCCG sites, including the Family Health Center, the hospital, and other venues. Responsible for conjoint counseling sessions with Residents and Patients. Have mentoring sessions with residents needing remedial skills in communication/team work/patient-centered treatment with patients, faculty, physicians, staff, and other residents. Mediate matters between residents and others Supervise Mercer University School of Medicine Marriage and Family Interns in conjunction with their interaction with Residents. Participation in resident retreats by leading residents in Behavioral Science interactive activities. Counsel and advise residents. Conduct personal written evaluation of resident performance, as directed by the Residency Director. Observation; Peer Feedback; Resident Feedback Adhere to GME Policies and Procedures published on the MCCG Intranet. Adhere to all policies and procedures established by Central Georgia Health Systems and all subsidiaries. Daily Observationn Medical Student Education - Maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the students in the core clerkship curriculum. Devote sufficient time to student education to fulfill supervisory and teaching responsibilities, including documentation of supervision and evaluation of students. Evaluations of faculty, residents, and clerkship by Assist the Department in other pre-doctoral teaching activities and responsibilities, such as Clinical Skills, tutoring in pre clinical basic science phases, community science, junior clerkship and senior electives. Each Chair needs to bullet the specific teaching and supervisory responsibilities for the individual faculty member: • Fourth year electives • Student advisor • Conferences • Clinical Skills the medical students Geriatric and Palliative Care Fellow Education -Maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the fellows in the behavioral science segment of the fellowship curriculum. Develop and Teach the geriatric/palliative care behavioral science curriculum. Evaluations of faculty, residents, and clerkship by the medical students Scholarly Environment - Attend to faculty duties as assigned by the Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Mercer University School of Medicine and attend to faculty duties as assigned by the Fellowship Director. Make Family Medicine Inpatient Service rounds w/geriatrics fellows. Participates in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and conferences. Participate in research department endeavors such as posters, articles, research activities, etc. Serves as Standard Patient Coordinator for the SBIRT and RESBIRT grant projects. Attendance rosters Scholarly products Feedback Patient Care Services -Provides Behavioral Science services for patients in Family Medicine including participating with department call schedule and supervision of residents and students in all assigned areas. Rounds with the Family Medicine Inpatient Service team, nursing home, and home visits. Provides care and counseling in an outpatient setting at Family Health Center. Completes all Medical Record documentation requirements as specified in the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations on a concurrent basis. Resident /Student Evaluations, Patient Satisfaction Survey results, observation of availability, policy Financial Accountability -Maximize timely collection of clinical revenue by submitting billing information within 24 hours of the service being rendered. Billing data from HSCG Institutional Support- Actively participates in Medical Staff and Hospital Committees, including the performance improvement process of The Medical Center of Central Georgia and other activities as may be required for The Medical Center of Central Georgia to meet the requirements of the Accreditation body on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Observation All other duties as assigned Specifications: 1. Education: PhD or equivalent; Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy 2. Experience: 5 Years graduate or professional level teaching experience; 5 years experience in psychotherapy; Interdisciplinary collaboration expertise 3. Certification/License/Registration: Licensed psychotherapist or licensed Associate of Marriage and Family Therapy in State of Georgia 4. Position Titles and Number Supervised: Behavioral Science interns; Family Medicine residents; medical students; in various settings including inpatient and outpatient 5. Special Training/Skills: 6. Fellow – Behavioral Science/Family Systems Education in Family optional; Research background desired; Physical Demands: Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity. Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics. Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds, specific to the job class evaluation. Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly. Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds specific to job class evaluation. Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors. Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered. Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations. Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously. Must be able to assist co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously. Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize work space to be efficient and conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner. If job class is identified as falling under POPE C, the individual must pass the cardiac recovery test. 7. 8. 9.
