MICU Overview The Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) at The George Washington University Hospital provides expert care for patients with complex, acute, and life‑threatening medical conditions. Our team treats a wide range of diagnoses including sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, multi‑organ dysfunction, and complex infectious diseases. GW Hospital ICU Summary Medical ICU (MICU) – 32 beds: Complex medical critical care patients Surgical ICU (SICU) – 24 beds: Post‑operative and surgical specialties Trauma ICU (TICU) – 20 beds: High‑acuity trauma patients Neuro ICU – 20 beds: Neurological and neurosurgical care Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) – 24 beds: Advanced cardiac and ECMO care Job Summary Are you a dedicated and experienced Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Registered Nurse seeking an exciting opportunity in the heart of Washington, D.C.? Responsibilities Provide evidence‑based, compassionate care to critically ill medical patients. Manage ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, and continuous infusions; respond to rapid patient changes. Partner with intensivists, specialists, respiratory therapists, and care teams to deliver comprehensive care. Manage complex cases including multi organ failure, sepsis, and respiratory distress. Support patients and families through critical illness with empathy and education. Ensure precise and timely charting of patient care. Guide families through disease processes and recovery expectations. Contribute to improving ICU outcomes and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or currently enrolled. Washington, D.C. RN license or eligibility. 2 years full‑time (or 4 years part‑time) critical care experience.
