Payroll ClerkAscend Staffing is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Clerk to join our team. This role is an important part of ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time while providing excellent support when payroll questions arise.The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with numbers and computer systems, and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy. You'll work closely with employees, payroll leadership, and the accounting team to help keep payroll processes running smoothly and efficiently.Compensation$16.50 -$17.50 Per Hour DOEWhat We OfferHealth, vision, dental, life, and disability insurance401K with company contributionTraining providedOpportunities for advancementEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesReviewing and verifying employee timekeeping records for accuracyResearching and resolving discrepancies related to hours worked, deductions, or payroll informationEntering payroll data into company systems and verifying amounts before payroll is processedUpdating employee banking and direct deposit information as neededMaintaining accurate electronic and paper payroll recordsProcessing updates related to pay rates, employee status changes, and other payroll adjustmentsResponding professionally to employee payroll questions and concernsDocumenting payroll-related issues and escalating them to the Payroll Manager when appropriateHelping maintain payroll policies and procedures that comply with applicable state and federal requirementsWorking cross-functionally with payroll, accounting, and other departmentsResearching and resolving both current and historical payroll issuesPerforming other payroll and administrative responsibilities as assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma/GED required (Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field preferred)Ability to process basic functions and formulas in Microsoft ExcelFamiliarity with payroll software a plusStrong attention to detail requiredFamiliarity with general accounting principlesStrong organization skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong computer systems knowledge and experienceGood team playerPatiencePositive attitudeAbout Ascend StaffingAscend Staffing has been connecting great people with real opportunities for over 50 years.
