Senior Media Buyer

Marshall Advertising, one of Florida’s largest independent media buying agencies, is seeking an experienced Senior Media Buyer to join our team in Tampa.

Our nationally recognized agency works with clients across diverse industries, including Fortune 500 companies, in more than 50 markets nationwide. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex campaigns, contribute to media strategy, and work alongside experienced media professionals.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of media buying and planning experience, preferably across a broad range of markets and market sizes. You’ll manage multiple stages of the media buying process—from strategy, planning, and negotiation to trafficking, performance monitoring, reporting, reconciliation, and billing. You should be comfortable managing a high volume of campaigns and significant client budgets while balancing deadlines, maintaining accuracy, and providing thoughtful recommendations.

AI, automation, and modern tools are part of how we work. We’re looking for buyers who are curious about new technology and comfortable using AI tools and large language models (LLMs) to support research, analysis, reporting, and everyday workflows. You don’t need to be a developer, but you should be willing to experiment, check outputs for accuracy, and use sound judgment when handling client information.

• Lead the planning and execution of traditional media buys across TV, cable, radio, print, and out-of-home (OOH).
• Partner with account management to translate client objectives into media recommendations, including market priorities, channel mix, budgets, and schedules.
• Evaluate audience research, ratings, market conditions, pricing, and available inventory to guide planning and buying decisions.
• Lead negotiations with media representatives and vendors to secure competitive rates, effective placements, and added value opportunities.
• Manage campaigns from start to finish, coordinating with account teams, media vendors, and other internal teams to keep deliverables and deadlines on track.
• Create and maintain campaign budgets, flowcharts, schedules, authorizations, and related documentation.
• Oversee trafficking and confirm that creative materials, instructions, and placements align with approved plans.
• Monitor campaign delivery, spending, and performance against approved budgets and goals; recommend and implement adjustments as needed.
• Complete post-buy analyses, identify delivery shortfalls or placement discrepancies, and negotiate makegoods or credits when appropriate.
• Oversee invoice review, resolve billing discrepancies, and complete campaign reconciliation in coordination with the billing team.
• Prepare campaign performance reviews and present results, insights, and recommendations to internal teams and clients as needed.
• Build and maintain vendor relationships, evaluate new opportunities, and bring relevant market insights to strategy discussions.
• Mentor less experienced buyers, provide guidance on complex buys, and help maintain accuracy and consistency across the team’s work.
• Stay current on audience measurement, industry trends, emerging technologies, and media buying best practices.
• Use AI tools and LLMs to support research, analysis, and reporting, and help the team evaluate and adopt useful workflow automations while checking outputs for accuracy and protecting client information.

• At least 5 years of traditional media buying and planning experience, preferably across a broad range of markets and market sizes.
• Strong working knowledge of TV, cable, radio, print, and OOH planning and buying. Digital media buying and planning experience is a plus.
• Experience independently managing multiple clients, complex campaigns, and significant media budgets.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience evaluating rates, inventory, added value, makegoods, and vendor proposals.
• Experience with the Strata Media Buying Platform, including View, SBMS, and Eleven.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Working knowledge of Nielsen and Comscore audience measurement, including the ability to interpret ratings and apply relevant media metrics to planning, buying, and post-buy analysis.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn campaign data into clear recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain media recommendations and campaign results to clients and colleagues.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet tight deadlines.
• Sound judgment, accountability, and the ability to resolve campaign and vendor issues independently while recognizing when to involve others.
• A collaborative approach and a willingness to share knowledge and mentor less experienced team members.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools and LLMs, such as Gemini, Claude, or ChatGPT, with the judgment to evaluate outputs and guide practical use across the media buying team.

Work arrangement: Hybrid; currently 3 days per week in-office, subject to change
