Allied Technician - Respiratory Therapist

Respiratory Therapist (RRT)This position is for a night shift Respiratory Therapist specializing in acute care. The therapist will work across various departments, including Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical (MS), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), depending on their experience.ResponsibilitiesProvide respiratory care to patients of all age groups, including neonates, adults, and geriatrics.Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and related therapeutic equipment.Administer medications and treatments such as BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).Conduct arterial blood gas interpretations and sputum specimen collections.Engage in patient education and family support.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care setting.Active certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) are preferred.Experience with electronic charting systems, specifically EPIC, is required.Trauma Level I or II experience is preferred.Unit InformationStaffing consists of 7-10 Respiratory Therapists, adjusting according to patient census.Experience in ICU, ED, MS, and NICU settings is highly valued.Specialized equipment utilized includes Bipap-V60, High-Flow, Veletri, Volara, and Synclara.Additional InformationCandidates must be willing to float between units based on patient care needs. Prior experience in a relevant specialty area within the last year is necessary.All certifications should be obtained through the American Heart Association (AHA).Client Details City Newport News State VA
