Data Center Technician – AWS Join our dynamic AWS team and become a critical guardian of global cloud infrastructure. You will maintain the heartbeat of the world’s most innovative technology platform, ensuring seamless data center operations that power millions of businesses and services worldwide. Primary Responsibilities Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs. Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, and maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting. Serve as a primary contact for engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives. Help interview, train, and onboard new team members. Day‑to‑Day Activities Own technical issues brought by the customer base and engage other teams when needed. Apply strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Work shift patterns that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Adhere to health & safety guidelines in cramped or elevated spaces. Use a ticketing system to manage work and priorities. Physical Requirements Lift and move up to 40 pounds. Work in cramped and/or elevated locations. Bend, lift, stretch, and reach regularly. Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day. Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely. Work in an industrial environment and shift longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations. Travel to data center locations as needed. Essential Requirements Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations. Willingness to temporarily work at alternate sites during training periods. Travel frequency will vary with business needs. Basic Qualifications 1+ year of computer networking experience. 1+ year of Linux operating system experience. Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience in computer networking and Linux operating systems. Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds. Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair. 1+ year of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience. 18+ months of layer 1/2 networking experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in cramped or elevated spaces with health & safety guidelines. Customer‑facing experience during problem resolution. Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system. Knowledge of cabling infrastructure best practices. Experience in a data center environment (racking, stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment). CompTIA, CCENT, Network+ certifications. Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems. Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience. Experience training and onboarding new team members. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
