Child Life Specialist (Inpatient Surgical)

Position Summary: 36 hours a week. Child Life Specialist. Inpatient Surgical. Key Responsibilities Participate in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients' psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences in the intensive care unit. Serve as member of multidisciplinary team. Delegate work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in child life. 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a certified child life specialist. Experience: General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and evidence-based knowledge. Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member. Licensure / Certifications Certification in Child Life Specialist required within 1 year of hire for all new hires. The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
