About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years minimum required License: California RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance prior to arrival. Wound management experience is required. Experience with JP drains, wound vacs, hemodialysis catheter care, fistulas, PCA, and pain management is necessary. Description: This is a brand new Medical Surgical/telemetry unit for a growing facility. Many educational opportunities are available to travelers. Patient types include sepsis, cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, and pneumonia. Post-operative overflow cases occasionally include total joints (knees, hips, shoulders) and GI/abdominal surgeries (hemicolectomies, bowel resections, etc.). Patient ratios are RN: 1:5-6 during nights and CNA: 2 per shift unless census does not call for it. Support on the unit includes a floating charge nurse, a Secretary on day shift only, in-house phlebotomy, RNs for central line and PICC/midline draws, and an available IV/VAT team (PICC placement). An in-house hospitalist is available for most patients. Charting is done in an electronic medical record system. IV pumps and medication dispensing systems are utilized. Travelers may float to any Med/Surg area within the hospital. Weekend rotation requires every other weekend. Scheduling includes a four-day work week one week and a three-day work week the next week, which is mandatory. Holiday expectations include working two out of three holidays. Scrub color is pewter, and T-shirts must be gray, white, or black with a specific monogram. Jackets must be gray or black. Badges must be worn above the waist and visible at all times.
