Are you a fast typist and are detail oriented? San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Payment Posting Specialist to join our Cash Posting team! In this role, a successful candidate will use technical and financial skills to track and manage patient cash flow and credit/insurance payments. The Payment Posting Specialist reconciles deposit amounts against cash, credit cards and checks on a daily basis, researches and resolves discrepancies in bank deposits and reverses payments and or adjustments. In addition, this position will also be assisting with patient accounting duties as determined by the Business Office Manager.

What you need:

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Demonstrates the ability to type at a minimum rate of 50 WPM with 97% or better accuracy and use 10-key calculator with a minimum rate of 7500 KPM with a minimum of 97% or better accuracy. A typing test will be administered prior to employment.
• Capable of working in a fast paced environment with competing demands.

What you'll do as a Payment Posting Specialist:

• Balance daily receipts and money, and prepare daily deposit of all SLV Health locations.
• Manage and document up-to-date income records and transactions.
• Accurately enter daily payment activities and receive insurance credit payments.
• Scan data (personal payments/statement tags received in mail, General ledger checks, and deposit tally sheet).
• Assist billing and customer service with patient financial services as needed.
• Research and resolve discrepancies in bank deposit. Reverse payments and/or adjustments due to NSF, closed accounts and stop payment notice received from bank(s).

What you'll do in Patient Accounting:

• Proper separation and disbursement of daily correspondence from various insurance companies.
• Assist with timely and accurate billing of medical claims to insurance companies.
• Assist in follow up on unpaid/denied claims.
• Various project and other responsibilities as determined by the Business Office Manager.
