Full-time Veterinary Technician Broomfield Veterinary Hospital is part of the Suveto network of hospitals located in Broomfield, Colorado. Location & Compensation Full‑time; $24.00 - $26.00 per hour Job Summary The Certified Veterinary Technician performs advanced medical, diagnostic, and laboratory procedures under the direction of a licensed veterinarian. Essential Job Duties Take history from client, perform physical assessments, and record observations legibly in the medical record. Triage patients and determine if they are stable or critical. Communicate with doctors, technicians, office staff, and clients regarding patient status. Educate clients on preventive health care recommendations and provide follow‑up. Communicate any patient or client concerns to the appropriate personnel. Perform venipuncture to collect blood samples, conduct in‑house laboratory tests, and prepare all forms for outside labs; call owners with results when requested by the veterinarian. Prepare exam rooms and assist in appointments with doctors. Perform diagnostic imaging as requested by the veterinarian. Prepare fluid therapy—infusion pump/syringe pump setup, suitable IVF setup, fluid types and rates, CRI calculations, and monitoring. Assist the veterinarian during surgical procedures (pre‑medication, setup, induction, general anesthesia, surgical monitoring, assistance, recovery, post‑op orders, and pain management). Provide and monitor all nursing care for patients admitted to the hospital, including medications via all routes and monitoring. Admit and discharge patients following all protocols; educate clients on admission and discharge. Clean and restock exam rooms, treatment areas, wards, and other designated areas as requested. Dispense veterinarian‑approved medication, patient food, print treatment sheets, discharge instructions, cage labels, x‑ray labels, lab labels, and record communications with clients and doctors as directed. Prepare patients for discharge to owners, including client education on home care and medications. Requirements and Qualifications Current CACVT certification. Preferably at least three years of clinical veterinary hospital experience. Excellent listening and communication skills. Proficiency in triage, patient restraint, medication administration, and venipuncture. Surgery skills, including but not limited to: Dental prophylaxis Full‑mouth dental radiographs Induction and monitoring of anesthesia Preparation of surgical site for the veterinarian Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Flexible and adaptable to new situations. Team player. Proficient with veterinary practice software. Clear understanding and enforcement of OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Skills may change depending on clinic needs.
